Deric Charles Feacher a certified Coach, Trainer and Speaker with the John Maxwell Team is a native of Winter Haven, Florida, attended Bethune-Cookman (College) University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he received the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Public Administration. At Bethune-Cookman, Deric received the United States Achievement Academy All American Scholar Award and the National Collegiate Minority Leadership Award. After his matriculation at Bethune-Cookman, Deric had the opportunity to work for both the democratic and republican parties, as well as Keiser University in Daytona Beach, Florida, as Community Relations Coordinator.
After eight years in Daytona Beach, Deric had the opportunity to return to the City of Winter Haven and work for the Department of Leisure & Environmental Services’ as Director of the Winter Haven Recreation and Cultural Center. After four months of employment with the Department of Leisure & Environmental Services’, Deric was asked to become the City of Winter Haven Director of Communications. Deric eventually was promoted to Assistant City Manager/Director of Support Services. In February of 2013, Deric was unanimously selected to be the City Manager for the City of Winter Haven. Deric is highly motivated and enthusiastic as he works directly with Department Heads and staff to effectively and efficiently perform day-to-day operations of the municipal corporation.
His professional affiliations include participation in the Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni Association (Polk County Chapter), The Upsilon Xi Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Toastmasters International, Polk Vision Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, United Way of Central Florida Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce Focus on Leadership Advisory Committee Member and Facilitator, Polk County School Board Head Start Policy Council, Winter Haven Leadership XXIII Graduate, Leadership Polk III Graduate, Sons of the American Legion (Winter Haven, Post 201), Samson Lodge #142 F & AM, PHA (Winter Haven, Fl.), NAACP (Polk-County Chapter), Young Men For Christ-Advisor (Winter Haven, Fl) Polk State College Corporate College Advisory Board, National Forum for Black Public Administrators and many more. Being a former Governor of Boys State he is still involved in the Florida American Legion Boys State asthe Director.
Deric, an Elks Oratorical Contest Winner and former National PRIDE Performer, is in high demand throughout the state and country as a master orator and prolific messenger who electrifies and energizes people to succeed. Deric has hosted and produced a 30-minute talk show called “Let’s Get Together.” He recently formed “The Messenger Speaks,” a company dedicated to providing presentations, workshops and motivational speeches designed to uplift people from mediocrity to excellence. Deric is a member of Hurst Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Winter Haven, FL under the leadership of Ronnie L. Clark. Deric has traveled and spoken in more than 30 states and seven European Countries.
Deric is married to the former Keshia McCloud and they are the proud parents of one son, Jay.
